Sexual Energy

Just the other day, I performed an ancestral meditation under poor circumstances and judgment, ending up in a nasty headspace. On Fathers’ Day, I wanted to do a ritual calling in the Grandfathers, the ol' dzia dzias, while meditating on masculinity and my favorite Slavic deity, Jarilo, whose time is now, around the summer solstice.
Now, ever since Niko’s flesh-hook suspension rebirth ritual, two weeks back, my libido has been returned to me with forceful intensity, yet more focused intention. Before this Fathers’ Day ritual, an inner voice whispered a firm firmly to me to not masturbate and get off before doing the ritual. Feeling like a selfish child, I disregarded the voice because I didn't want to wait.
Post-orgasm, I felt like overcooked noodles, just no energy or motivation, as if I had used up my sexual power. Nonetheless, I continued on with the ritual, and ended up in a very zapped, sad, and depressed space for a day and a half.
For the ritual itself, I acted out a dream vision that was very vague, instead of waiting for more dreams or signs. I only later the  following morning received a little more of it. I should have waited, since I didn't even know what it was I should be doing. Nonetheless, I acted out my specific vision:
6/17/12 3am. Dream image: A girl with a wreath of green leaves around her head. She is dressed in white and holding a small basket with three eggs inside.
The waking ritual went as follows:
I dressed as a girl in white, with a white skirt and blouse, even going so far as to make a head garland of green vines cut from the backyard, worn around my head. Then, I brought in two hard-boiled eggs, lit some incense, and said a blessing-greeting to all my grandfathers. After making an offering of salt, I ate one of the eggs and lay down with my eyes closed, open to receive anything from the grandfathers. I drifted into a luminal state, thinking about the masculine in my ancestry, feeling resistance and fear of emerging. The need to be seen, validated, and to prove one’s worthiness led to intense feelings of sadness and frustration.
The next day, Katrina (Davenport/Dreamer) and I were chatting about the use and timing of one's sexual energy while involved with working with ritual and spiritual realms. Katrina asked: “How much sexual energy should we hold and how much should we release? What is the right balance? How is it best handled in ritual? ” At the time, I felt confused; it felt comically inappropriate to go meeting my ancestors while horny, nut at the same time, that raw, life-force erotic is precisely what propels me into the transcendent.
We genderqueers don't fuck to unite the masculine and feminine. We fuck to crack worlds open—to merge the animal and divine, our birthright.

Excerpt from an article I'm working on called "Guardian of the Gates."

These days, I gaze at my parents and within each of them, all the genders blend together, like relaxing the eyes and seeing double. Of course, if I must, I can downshift a dimension or two, and see the world through the binary lens. But from a multi-layered consciousness, the grocery store salesman and the woman who drives the bus are flamboyantly grotesque caricatures of each opposite, dutifully unaware of the performance. So when one of them utters a “she” or throws a suspiciously scrutinizing glance at me, I only hope that I can laugh at the fragile mask of humans terrified to connect.

Introducing...Jesse Paradox

Time is shifting, and a new part of my life emerges!

Several years ago I began as a physics undergraduate and bondage model under the name Maya Paradox. Over the years as my life, gender identity, and ideas have evolved, I'm now a transmasculine genderqueer musician, workshop facilitator, academic author, and yes, still modeling, only this time my stage name is Jesse Paradox.

As a graduate student at JFK University, I am pulling my music career together while entering the role of instructor in the intersection of sexuality, gender, and consciousness. I have a new album, Frontier, for sale, as well as an article on genderqueer identity and indigenous ancestry that has been accepted and pending publishing in Witches and Pagans magazine for spring/summer 2013.

This website has morphed into a hub from which one can access all of the media and topics that I'm currently involved in.

So, welcome to the frontier!

Gender & Indigenous Culture

I had a long conversation yesterday with my friend Jodi. She definitely sees gender as binary, and refers to herself as a "two-spirit," which is an indigenous American term from a few tribes. It refers to what we would call people outside the gender binary and hetero orientation. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two-Spirit)

I really like the idea behind that for myself, but 1. I want to get away from the binary, and 2. I'm not native American.

So, I've been playing around with Polish combinations of words, just for the hell of it. I'm not sure if way way back in indigenous Slavic culture there was a place for "two-spirits," because my people were oral (hehe) until Christianity. So I'm going to start asking my dreams for answers. Until then, what do you think of the following combinations? I want to create a phrase or word that is relatively easy for non-Polish speakers to hear, or even write. Many Polish words are just way too complicated. And obviously, it's highly specific to me. I wouldn't call anyone else these terms.

The issue I'm having is that for myself I think of my "true self" as being beyond gender completely, or "other," but in terms of the social world, I enjoy playing with the contrast of masculine and feminine. So I'm not sure how to convey that with one phrase. Thus, the phrases I came up with fall into 2 categories:
The first conveys the primordial, androgynous, complete feeling.
The second conveys the unification of a binary, like "two spirit."

Dwadalej - two and beyond
Dużo dusz - many souls
Klejnot - Jewel
Z Ognia - from the fire

Primordial gender phrases:
"Cały razem"
- all together
"Każdy razem" - every [thing] together
"Pierwszy pożar" - first fire

The gender binary phrases:
"Dwa razem" - two together
"Dwa duchy" - two spritis
"Dwa duszy" two souls

New, Upcoming Album

As I have recently written a brand new song, I realized that I now have enough material to produce a full album.

The only piece of equipment I am currently missing is a drumset, which I plan on renting out. So stay tuned, folks!

I'm currently brainstorming ideas for the album cover as well. I'm thinking a bleach white creepy angel in a really dismal post-apocalytpic setting.
